doll face comparison album

I put together an album of pictures I have of pre-Mattel and later versions plus the two Gotz play dolls I have seen Little Sisters and Precious Day. I counted 3 different face molds for Josefina!

Thanks- very informative! I like the newer Kaya, but older other dolls. I'm currently collecting pictures myself to help identify the older dolls when I run across them and just out of interest. Do you know- is it the PM Josies only that have rosy lips and cheeks or do some of the new Mattel ones have that too? I've seen some chalky, bland Josies and I want one with pinker lips and cheeks.

the only Josefinas I have ever seen in person are the ones in my album. TD Josefina was beautiful and much prettier in person than the catalog.

I was comparing my Addy with my DD's Sarah the other night, and they really are quite different! Even there hair is different. My Addy's hair is definitely thicker and softer feeling than DD's. My Addy looks like she has been eating too much of her sweet potatoe recipe, and DD's addy looks like she has anorexia!

The new (Mattel) Kirsten hair looks so different from my 1992 Kirsten. I'm not sure what it is... maybe the colour, which looks almost darker? I also noticed how different Addy looks. I definitely have the older Addy with what I would consider a "longer" face, although my Addy (pre-Mattel China) looks different from both of the Addy's in your pictures.

anyways I find the differences interesting, especially since I never really thought of there being differences until I discovered this board!

I always thought there seemed to be differences between the old dolls vs. the new ones, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what those differences were until I saw these comparison- pictures. The change in Addy's appearance over the years is especially noticeable!
